Mud Magic: M&S Formula

Mud Magic: M&S Formula is our specially formulated mallenders and sallenders care salve for horses, designed to soften and care for the thick, flaky and scabby skin associated with these stubborn conditions.

Originally developed following the success of our original Mud Magic, which many customers were already using on mallenders and sallenders, M&S Formula takes that concept one step further with a formula created specifically with these conditions – and sensitive horses – in mind.

Containing colloidal oatmeal and silver, with no essential oils, refined oils or paraffin-based ingredients, it provides intensive moisturising and skin care while remaining gentle on sensitive skin.

Specifically Formulated for Mallenders & Sallenders

Mallenders and sallenders can cause persistent areas of thickened, crusty and scabby skin, commonly affecting the bends of the horse's legs.

Managing these areas often requires keeping the skin moisturised and supple while gently softening stubborn scabs and caring for the sensitive skin underneath.

Mud Magic: M&S Formula has been developed specifically for this purpose.

Its rich salve consistency helps soften dry, flaky and crusty areas while deeply moisturising and conditioning the skin.

Colloidal Oatmeal, Silver & Gentle Skin Care

We've carefully selected the ingredients in M&S Formula with sensitive and problem skin in mind.

Colloidal Oatmeal – renowned for its soothing and moisturising properties, helping the skin retain moisture while calming dry, itchy and irritated areas.

Silver – included for its antibacterial properties, helping to maintain a clean environment on the skin.

Lanolin – provides intensive moisturisation and helps create a protective barrier over dry and vulnerable skin.

Unlike our original Mud Magic, M&S Formula contains no essential oils, refined oils or paraffin-based ingredients, making it particularly useful for sensitive horses or those that cannot tolerate ingredients such as citronella or tea tree.

How to Use Mud Magic: M&S Formula

Apply directly to the affected area and gently work the salve into the skin.

Use daily during scabby or flaky flare-ups to help moisturise the area and soften stubborn crusts and scabs.

Once the scabs have cleared, we recommend switching to our Aloe, Seaweed & Silver Gel for lightweight daily care of the fresh skin underneath.

If the area becomes scabby again, simply return to M&S Formula.

M&S Formula or Original Mud Magic?

Both products have their place, but they have been formulated with slightly different skin concerns in mind.

Mud Magic: M&S Formula is our recommended choice when your horse's primary problem is mallenders or sallenders, particularly for sensitive horses.

Our original Mud Magic is our first choice for horses affected primarily by mud fever, dermatitis and scabby legs, providing intensive skin care alongside a protective, water-resistant barrier.

Also Suitable for Sensitive Skin

Because M&S Formula contains no essential oils, it can also be a useful alternative to original Mud Magic for particularly sensitive horses or horses with citronella or tea tree sensitivities that are experiencing other skin problems, including mud fever, cracked heels and dermatitis.

Important Information

Contains lanolin and is therefore not suitable for horses with a known lanolin allergy.

Not recommended for horses with oil sensitivity.

We recommend patch testing all new topical products before first use.
